A 4000 Liters Per Hour (LPH) Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant is an industrial-grade water purification system designed to treat up to 4,000 liters of water per hour by removing 95% to 99% of total dissolved solids (TDS), chemicals, and biological contaminants.

System Process Description
• Raw Water Feed: A raw water pump draws water from a borewell or municipal source into the pre-treatment chain.
• Sand Filtration (Multi-Grade Filter - MGF): Traps suspended solids, turbidity, silt, and large debris.
• Activated Carbon Filtration (ACF): Removes free chlorine, organic compounds, bad odors, and unpleasant tastes. [
• Dosing Systems: Antiscalant is injected to prevent membrane scaling, and SMBS (Sodium Metabisulfite) may be dosed to neutralize residual chlorine.
• Micron/Cartridge Filtration: Typically uses 10-micron bag filters and 5-micron cartridge filters to catch fine particles before high-pressure pumping.
• High-Pressure Pump & RO Skid: A high-pressure pump forces water through 4 to 6 thin-film composite (TFC) RO membranes housed in FRP or stainless steel pressure tubes.
• Purified Output & Reject Water: Separates into low-TDS permeate (product water) and high-TDS reject water ( brine).

Semi-Automatic vs. Automatic Operation
Semi-Automatic Plant
• Operation Mode: Requires manual intervention for starting and stopping major components like the raw water and high-pressure pumps.
• Backwashing: Filter backwashing and rinsing cycles (for sand and carbon filters) are typically initiated manually via multi-port valves (MPVs).
• Flushing: Manual control valves govern initial flushing or routine membrane cleaning routines.
• Control Panel: Uses basic relay logic or push-buttons with level switches to cut off power only when storage tanks hit maximum limits.
Fully Automatic Plant
• Operation Mode: Operates continuously with minimal to zero manual supervision.
• Automated Controls: Built with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) or advanced microprocessors linked to low/high-pressure switches and motorized/solenoid valves.
• Auto-Flushing: Features automatic high-pressure flushing cycles at startup and shutdown to extend membrane life and prevent scaling.
• Monitoring: Real-time digital flow meters, pressure gauges, and automated dry-run protection for pumps.
